How it works Step By Step

Once you have decided you would like to become a Shotfirer or move up from assistant, you can follow the simple steps below:

Note: for students wishing to enrole in the "For all Surface Operations Inside and Outside Town Boundaries"

You must inform Peter and John as Early as possible.  

  1. If you don't already have a Western Australian Dangerous Goods Security Card. Go to a participating Post Office and apply for one. You must have this card with you to start the course.                                                                                                                                                                    
  2. Go to "What you Need and When" page on this web site and read the section on your course and start getting the paper work organised.                                                                                                                                                                            
  3. Application For A Shotfiring Licence  is now done on line  and information will be given to you on course.                                                                                                                                        
  4. Take the Dangerous Goods Licence Medical Form to your Doctor and complete a medical. You will need the original signed form to submit with your Application for a Shotfirer's License.                                                                                           
  5. When you have completed these things go to the "Course Timetable" page and find a course date that suits you.

  7. John or his staff will contact you to complete the enrolment paperwork and send out your Log Book.                                                                                                                                                
  8. Complete your Log Book and have it signed in all places by your supervisor and bring it with you to the course.                                                                                                                                            
  9. Note for 5 Day and Refresher Courses:   Completed and Signed Log Books must be handed in at the beginning of the course or no Statment of Attainment can be issued.  This is required by DMIRS, for the issue of Certificates.                                                                                                   
  10. Note for 8 Day course: Log Books are completed on course.
